Diary of a MadDad ... (#2)
Diary of a MadDad ... similar to its 1835 Russian counter-part ... chronicles the life of one low-ranking servant ... he is a father of five! As he slips further into the insanity of PARENTHOOD, this MadDad reveals what is truly important in life.

Dear Diary:
Slow down! Deadlines. Stomach ache. Phone calls. Funerals. Deadlines. Sick kids. Slow down!
If I can just get caught up, then I will have time for those wife and kids. Shhhhhh! Don't bother me now, I am trying to get caught up!
My No.1 ... we call her Ya-ya ... finally got it. And she reminded me this morning. For as long as I can remember, I would leave in the morning with a kiss and a smile to whoever was awake at that time. Ya-ya usually was. "Goodbye, Dad," she would grunt. "Goodbye, my love. Have a good day! And make a difference in the world ..." was my standard response. She grunted back.
Until this morning. I was grunting ... see above ... as I was racing out of the house.
"Dad ..." she called.
"What?" I grunted.
"Make a difference in the world today! Love you."
... Wow ... she finally got caught it ...
"Love you, too."
Diary, write this down ... "Slow down Self ... make a difference ... smell your kids ... play with your roses ..."

I love this line you wrote Diary, write this down ... "Slow down Self ... make a difference ... smell your kids ... play with your roses ..." A good reminder for us all. How we get all wrapped up in life and forget to to live and experience it. Keep writing you are touching so many lives.
Self, You ARE making a difference. How could you possible question that. You have FIVE kids. (NOBODY) does that anymore). What wonderful lessons you and Mybeloved are teaching them. You are a successful dad, husband, son, lawyer, and ,most of all,a caring, faithful servant of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. So do stop and smell your kids, play with the roses and count your many blessings. Syl
