Coach's Cave, Part 2 (by Chris)

Its 1:00 am and I am went to see Dad again.

When I returned this morning at 1:00am, I noticed something different . . . Dad was sitting up a little bit. Our wonderful caretakers (pink wires) where given permission to elevate Dad's head to help with the ICP level in his brain. This is of importance because he has been lying flat on his back the entire time due to the fractures in his pelvic and tail bone. For the first time in the last 36 hours, I watched his ICP levels drop to 12 and average 15-16. He still has a ways to go but they were lower then at 9:00pm when I chatted with him.

They noticed another thing of importance, for me at least. He looked as if he was sleeping peacefully and not just lying in hospital bed with tubes coming out of him. The tubes and monitors are still there, they just don't seem as prominent as before.

They also where measuring his fluids in the suction containers and the levels from his chest tubes are down compared to previous reading. Good news: “the lungs are starting to clear."

As I got ready to leave for the night, Dad's caretakers informed me that they had asked the orthopedic specialist if they could raise his head more . . . hopefully when I return in the morning with Mom he will be sitting up more.

Off to my cave as Cindy--thank you so much--will sit watch in corner. Mom and Deb are suppose to be here by 5:00am so Mom can spend time with the caretakers to get the real scoop on the night . . . we know that the nurses run the show.

Matt and family,

I just wanted to let you all know that we are thinking and praying for all of you and for your dad. Having just left my own father in the hospital, I feel like I can relate more to how you all must be feeling.

Thanks for posting so much for all of us so that we know better how to pray for each of you.

Our thoughts are with you.

Erik & family

That is great news. I will pass the news on at church tonight. Hang in there. Sounds like he is coming around.

Have stayed close to the cell to get updates from Mom. Glad to get this blog. Oh, Pat, how much I love you and Ray! You were there for me a mere 33 years ago when I first worked for Ray. He bought cases of grapefruit from me . . . he BELIEVED in me! I know how difficult this path is, but how faithful our Lord is to see you all through each moment. May Jehovah Jireh provide for your needs with great abundance each minute of this day. Hold Ray's hand for me. Love to ALL of you, Carol Tubbs Gentry
